DuPont Country Club
The DuPont Country Club has a rich history that dates back to 1920. Several enhancements were made to club over the years to keep up with the fast membership growth. In 2018, DuPont Country Club was sold to a family heir and a former DuPont Company executive that sparked plans for yet another massive expansion of the club. The $18 Million expanison was unique in the way that it included plans for the first ever pool at DuPont Country Club along with a 19,321 SF fitness center.
In 2020, the club celebrated its 100th year anniversary. The new 25-meter lap pool and children’s pool was warmly welcomed by the members that same year. The main focus of the expansion was to provide a means of entertainment for the whole family.
“Let’s spend four hours together,” DuPont told WHYY. “Mom will go work out, dad will go swimming with junior, and the older kids will go play out on the golf course and we’ll all meet for lunch.”
Despite minor supply chain interruptions due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the aquatic complex was completed on time in June of 2020. The DuPont Country Club pool was one of the first pools to reopen during the pandemic. According to Ben DuPont, membership has doubled to more than 4,000 since the addition of both pools and family-oriented attractions.
