Project Type:
Competition, Education and Training
Location:
Columbus, Georgia
Intended as a centerpiece of campus life, groundbreaking for the $26 million facility took place in July 2009. Originally, the plan for the new Student Recreation Center did not include aquatics. However, CSU's Student Government Association approved the addition of the aquatics with a unanimous vote.
WTI was hired to design and engineer the aquatics, which is showcased on the entry level of the new facility. Open in January 2011, the multi-use leisure pool offers lap swim, water basketball, water volleyball, diving as well as resistive and assistive walking in the current channel. The raised whirlpool, which can accommodate 30 to 35 people, is ideal for hydrotherapy use and relaxation.
