Link Recreation Center

Project Type:
Community Recreation
Location:
Lakewood, Colorado

The community of Lakewood’s beloved Link Recreation Center had begun to show its age needing both cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. The $1.9 Million renovation project consisted of an initial site analysis in 2014, design and construction services 2015 – 2017, and a grand re-opening in Fall 2017.

The existing pirate ship was replaced with a larger, nature-themed play structure with tot slide and interactive leaf-shaped spray features. The new aquatic play unit can accommodate more children and offers more updated and upgraded opportunities for learning and exploration. Across from the play structure, the waterslide has been upgraded with clear flumes to bring in more natural light during the ride. Next to the waterslide is a hand-painted geometric style Colorado themed mural painted by local artist Yulia Avgustinovich. Finally, to improve the overall guest experience, the air and water quality have been improved through two new filtration systems.

The Link pool has been one of the most popular within the Lakewood recreation center system, with over 64,000 annual visitors. With the upgrades, Link is expecting continuous growth for years to come.
