H.O Dabney Aquatic Center
Water Technology, Inc. (WTI) provided aquatic planning, design, and engineering for the $5.5 million H.O Dabney Aquatic Facility. The facility was named after Hubert O. Dabney who deeply advocated for the development of a pool in Leesburg. The aquatic center replaces the city’s historical Venetian Gardens pool and sits on 4.61 acres close to downtown Leesburg.
The state-of-the-art multi-use pool serves a great asset to the community that caters to the play needs of every generation. The 8-lane Competition Pool provides a means of training and competition for local swim teams, high school swim practices, and swim lessons. The leisure pool area was designed with every user in mind. Family friendly amenities include a zero-entry leisure pool with a 42” open flume body slide, water geysers, and a large interactive play structure. Basketball hoops, volleyball nets, and a Wibit inflatable obstacle course offer additional exercise and entertainment opportunities for more active users.
The multi-use pool was warmly welcomed in March of 2022 after several construction delays due to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic.
“This has been a very exciting project because it accomplishes so many worthy goals,” said City Manager Al Minner. “Not only does it replace an outdated pool with a state-of-the-art aquatic center, but its new location invests in the Pine Street corridor and promotes downtown Leesburg. Also, when the facility opens it will certainly have an economic impact on the Leesburg region.”
