Prophetstown State Park Pool
WTI teamed up with the architect to design the new aquatic center located within the Prophetstown State Park. The aquatic center is part of a greater initiative to enhance the park and increase weekday park and campground visitation during the summer. The project was funded by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources with a total budget of $6 million. WTI worked alongside the architect to arrange pool tanks for the best flow of traffic, ideal aesthetic effect and solar orientation. The park used natural materials, key existing topography and subdued colors to further enhance the prairie theme that was native to the region.
WTI designed the pool to celebrate the local historical significance of the prairie and state park heritage. The leisure pool and lazy river feature a variety of activities and amenities, including a tube slide, body slide, zero depth entry and water basketball area. Prophetstown State Park Pool continues to garner attention throughout the parks and recreation community because of the creative solutions that WTI's design team employed.
