To complement the existing Romeoville Athletic and Event Center and enhance community offerings, the Romeoville Village Board approved plans for a new aquatic center in 2019. The new indoor leisure pool will be the first of its kind in the village and the outdoor splash pad will be the largest of three splash pads in Romeoville. Water Technology, Inc. (WTI) teamed with a local architect to provide aquatic planning, design, and engineering for the new 22,000 SF aquatic center. The new $16.6M aquatic center was made possible through a bond that is to be paid through tax increment financing.

Romeoville Aquatic Center comprises 12,000 SF of immersive “underwater” themed aquatic elements with color-changing LED lighting, themed ambient sound system, and complementing accents. The indoor pool features a 3-lane, 20-yard lap pool, a 42” deep activity pool with volleyball and basketball, a current channel, zero-depth entry with an interactive water play area, and a 20’ tall internally illuminated translucent fiberglass body slide, featuring a 150’ ridge length. Programming opportunities such as arthritic swimming, learn-to-swim programs, and water aerobics will be available to members. In addition, two multipurpose rooms and a dedicated snack area are strategically placed adjacent to the pool area making it convenient to host events such as birthday parties.

Outdoors, a 2,600 SF splash pad encompasses a colorful array of circular geometric water play elements. With more than 50 water play features varying in size and engagement, the pad is sure to excite and challenge users of all ages and abilities. Complementary seating and lounge areas with shade sails are located around the pad creating an inviting amenity for all.

For the first time ever, the village can enjoy year-round aquatics between the indoor and outdoor aquatic amenities at the Romeoville Aquatic Center.
